Good Morning All!
Sorry No blog yesterday but, I am so busy with plans and preparations to launch this health & beauty line on time that it got a little crazy 🙂
Here’s what happened…. I hired a friend who is also a great photographer to come over and take professional product photos starting with my new soaps. I had constructed my own light box earlier in the day and was excited to use it!
Well..first we had an issue with the computer not reading our memory cards Ugh…
Then, it erased what we had done so far.. Then the pics were yellowish in tint so we swapped out cameras and lights and all was a tad bit better but, we found that it is best to take the pictures in daylight.
Burnt Orange Patchouli Olive Oil and Shea Butter Soap 3.5 Oz Bars $4.49
Lilac and Lilly Olive Oil and Shea Butter Soap 5.0 Oz Bars $5.25
Oh if you want to construct your own light box, here are the best and simplest instructions I have found: http://jyoseph.com/diy-light-box-for-product-photography/
*NOTE: The author of this article specifies WHITE masking tape. Well my hubby & I went all over the city looking for it – no luck. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration of a search in vain. Look for it online OR if you simply cannot find it, just use the white duct tape. We had to end up just using the white duct tape and it did not get gooey with the hot lights as the author says.
Even with the light box and a great camera, you still may need to brighten or edit your photos in the end to get the exact look you want. I recommend Picasa (by Google) it’s a free download and packed with features. http://picasa.google.com/
After importing your photos into Picasa, click on Auto Color, Auto Contrast and then adjust the fill light and highlights from there. Add text to “watermark” your photo and Voila! you’re done!
I will say however; that without Christina’s help to stage and take the actual photos, this task would have been much more difficult. If you are serious about your business and want truly professional high quality photos. I highly recommend her work!
Her name is Christina Gross. You can reach her through me as she is only taking a few clients at a time right now. She is a new mother and very busy. She will be setting up her own photography services page in the near future but, until it is up, I will be helping to facilitate communications for her.
Please contact me at email@example.com with product photos as the subject line if you are interested in her services. I will pass on your interest and she will contact you directly to discuss fees and details once you explain your needs.
I’ll try not to be absent from a blog day again but, if I am, just know that I’ll have something special in store for you when I return 🙂 x0x0x0x0x0
All The Best To You!!!
