I just watched a commercial about a spray on / wipe off hair removal system. They had a man with a very hairy chest as the “subject” of the hair removal system. A pleasant-looking young lady sprayed a spot on the man’s ample chest hairs and wiped them away with a towel. Now, this is all before breakfast or coffee. Umm ewww..
The thought that ran across my mind was.. what the heck is that stuff made of to dissolve the hair right off the guy’s chest?!
I thought it has to contain a powerful chemical solvent right? Well I did a little digging and found that yes indeed many people were burned literally both by the product and the hidden fees. It is advertised for only $10.00 and they send a second one free. Well, shipping & handling are quite a bit and refunds are hard to come by.
The simple truth is, infomercials lie and are often scams. There is no easy way to remove unwanted hair. If you wax, it’s painful, shave and you can cut yourself.
All Natural Honey Lemon Hair Remover
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 of a lemon juiced (use only the juice)
- 1/4 cup honey
- A 1 tsp. molasses
- popsicle stick or spatula to spread the mixture
- cotton fabric strips (about 3 inches wide and 5 inches long)
Mix lemon, sugar, honey and molasses in a medium sized saucepan.
Place on the stove on LOW heat. Heat and stir until it blends into a smooth consistency. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Stir occasionally as it cools. Use this mixture when it is slightly warm for the best results.
Dust the area with cornstarch before applying the sugaring spread. Spread a thin layer of the honey lemon sugaring mixture on your leg. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rub the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth, about 3 – 4 times.
Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly. Like I mentioned, it will hurt but, the more you practice sugaring, the less painful it becomes.NOTE: ** Only treat small areas at a time. Do not slather the mixture all over then attempt removal **
If the mixture becomes too hard to spread, a quick re-heat in the microwave it for about 15-20 seconds will do the trick but make sure to stir completely to disperse any hot spots. Make sure it’s cool enough to work with again.
Store the remaining mixture in a clean plastic or glass jar with a tight fitting lid. The shelf life of this product is about 3 months.
So, there is a great, simple and very inexpensive way to remove hair, exfoliate and moisturize all at the same time! As an added bonus, the honey in the mixture is a natural humectant which means it draws in and retains moisture. So you will be healing and moisturizing as you go.
So my advice to you is, don’t buy from infomercials and get burned literally. The more you can do yourself at home naturally and/or buy truly all natural products, the better.
Have a Beautiful Day! & All The Best To You!!!
