Turns out that yesterday’s post Holiday Stress was very timely indeed. I’ll surely be taking my own advice and baking cookies and making some gifts this year. Why? well.. out of necessity.
The noises are costing us about $1,100.00 to fix. Since my hubby drives to client locations to service their equipment for a living, and we only have one car, umm…. this is a necessity.
Thank God that the garage we deal with was willing to break up the bill into 3 lump sums… this puts a huge dent is the Christmas budget but, won’t take food completely off the table.
So I decided two things. To take my own advice and start off a holiday help series. Here are a few GREAT super easy recipes that make wonderful gifts.
Holiday Help Recipe 1
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white cane sugar
- ¾ cup sweet almond, grape seed or olive oil (can get at the grocery store)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with a large spoon or whisk. Make sure that the sugar scrub is not lumpy.
Package in small jars (4 to 8 oz), decorate and give as gifts! Look for packaging at your local craft store.
**Tip** Make sure to pack the sugar scrub down in the jars as some settling may cause it to look messy or crumbly.
Holiday Help Recipe 2
- 1 cup sweet almond, sunflower, OR canola oil.
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup mild liquid hand or body soap
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
Mix ingredients thoroughly and place in a small glass mason jar. Decorate the lid and include these instructions on the tag:
** To use, shake gently to remix, pour ¼ cup under running bath water and enjoy! **
Well there you have it! Two great, super simple recipes to make for the beauties on your Christmas list! They are super easy with simple easy to find ingredients that won’t break the bank. 🙂
I truly hope that you enjoyed today’s Holiday Help Edition. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s edition. Men’s Gifts!
